The climate of Shangh is characterized by a subtropical humid type, which makes the dly weather generally mild and moist. Thanks to its location near the mouth of the Yangtze River, the city experiences rnfall throughout approximately one-third of the year. The average temperature in Shangh stands at 15.6°C 60°F. The highest recorded temperature is a sweltering 40°C 104°F, while the lowest dipped to -12.1°C 10.22°F. As with most areas on mnland China, Shangh enjoys distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Spring in Shangh

The period spanning from March to May is pleasant with mild weather, gentle breezes, and warmth characteristic of springtime. This season is often marked by blooming flowers and lush vegetation that adorn the streets, pnting them in a vibrant array of colors. Spring is considered one of the best times for travel in Shangh. While it's not uncommon to experience light showers during this time, these rns are typically too mild to disrupt travel plans. Shangh's spring rnfall can be divided into three periods: early spring, plum rn season, and autumnal precipitation. The early spring rns bring gentle showers that travelers needn't worry about spoiling their trips.

Summer in Shangh

Summer arrives in June and lasts until roughly September, a time when it might not be the most ideal period for travel due to the intense heat pred with heavy rnfall. Predicting whether any given day will be sunny or rny can be challenging during these months. The period from late August through mid-September is particularly risky for typhoons and thunderstorms.

The rn of summer in Shangh, known as the plum rn season, lasts about a month. This precipitation amounts to approximately 25 of the total annual rnfall. The plum rn season starts around June and continues until early July. It's also during this time that plums begin to ripen, which is why the rny period was named after them.

Autumn in Shangh

By October, the seasons shift into autumn, lasting through November. Autumn offers temperate weather, making it one of the best times for travel alongside spring. This season brings some of the most picturesque scenery, particularly among the four seasons. Tourists can enjoy the poetic sight of falling leaves at several spots in Shangh, notably Nanjing Qixia Mountn and Tianping Hill in Suzhou.

Winter in Shangh

The cold winter exts from December through February of the following year. The coldest period aligns with the Chinese Spring Festival around January's until early February. However, given its location in southern China, Shangh experiences temperatures that are less severe compared to northern regions.
