We provide you with the most accurate forecast data avlable, understanding that a single forecast model might not be the most accurate in every situation. This is why we offer access to the world's top forecasting, ensuring you have the best possible forecast and greater confidence in your decision-making.
Since 2008, PredictWind has been the market leader in providing accurate forecasts for recreational marine use worldwide. We utilize proprietary technology that allows us to generate forecasts using either NCEP or ECMWF global initial conditions processed through our CSIRO CCAM model, resulting in PWG and PWErespectively.
PWG: Our proprietary weather model utilizing NCEP global initial conditions enhanced by the CSIRO CCAM model.
PWE: Our proprietary weather model utilizing ECMWF global initial conditions enhanced by the CSIRO CCAM model.
Using both NCEP and ECMWF provides us with unique 'snapshots' of our planet's current atmospheric state, enabling us to run our worldwide weather. As a private company holding this exclusive technology, we stand uniquely positioned in the market.
GFS: Refers to the Global Forecast System from National Centers for Environmental Prediction NCEP. Widely used by most other online platforms and applications alike. We now display GFS-FV3 when you see the GFS label; an upgrade that offers a significant improvement over previous versions with enhanced vertical movement simulation, crucial for severe weather predictions.
ECMWF: European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting is highly esteemed among meteorologists and experienced navigators worldwide. Its High RES model consistently ranks as the top global weather model from national weather services due to its highest accuracy scores.
SPIRE: An innovative company with a vast network of nanosatellites that measure Earth's atmosphere with three times more radio occultation data than any other commercial entity, providing superior forecast accuracy in remote areas. SPIRE's model excels at wind speed and direction predictions using offshore weather buoy data and ranks second for land-based stations behind ECMWF.
UKMO: Otherwise known as the Unified Model by the UK Meteorological Office boasts a long-standing reputation as a market leader in forecasting. It matches ECMWF model accuracy offshore, but lags slightly behind ECMWF SPIRE when evaluated on land.
HRRR: High-Resolution Rapid Refresh from NOAA is a real-time 3-km resolution, hourly updated cloud-resolving atmospheric model that enhances forecast accuracy through radar data assimilation every 15 minutes over an hour period. For more information, please refer to the video.
NAM: North American Mesoscale Forecast System, one of NOAA's major weatherspecifically designed for most parts of North America. As a mesoscale model, it offers improved land feature modeling at higher resolution than global, enhancing forecast accuracy.
AROME: A small-scale numerical prediction model operational since December 2008 by Meteo-France. Tlored to improve short-range forecasts for severe events like intense Mediterranean precipitation and urban heat waves during heatwaves, this model is highly regarded among top racing navigators and beats ECMWF predictions.
In comparing PWGPWE forecasts, you gn insight into the level of confidence in each forecast. Incorporating GFSECMWFSPIRE UKMO data elevates your confidence even further. Typically, our unique PredictWindwith higher resolution may offer more accuracy, but combining all nine forecasts allows for unparalleled decision-making confidence.
